Personal histories intertwine with the workers’ strife: Antonio dreams of going back to his native village with his girfriend, who works in Milan; Salvatore, a trade union man, has a conflicting relationship with his 18 year-old unemployed son; Mario is looking for an alternative to his factory job, starting with some of the workers’ wives a small business producing fresh pastry.
