Jenny is seventeen and dreams of becoming a synchronised swimmer. Her adolescent life in Ostia, on the Roman coast, is turned upside down by a tragic event and she is forced to move to a small village in the mountains, with her ill father and her nine year old brother. They lodge in an old hut, next to a hotel where Jenny starts working as a waitress. Not resigned to her new circumstances, she promises herself and her friend Flavia that she will return to Ostia, to take part in the synchronised swimming competitions. The hotel swimming pool becomes her secret training place.
