ShorTS IFF opens submissions to its 25th edition

Entries are now open for the competitions of the 25th ShorTS International Film Festival to be held in Trieste from 29 June to 6 July 2024, and which will be preceded in June by two evenings reserved for special national and international events.

Organised by Associazione Maremetraggio and entrusted to the artistic direction of Maurizio di Rienzo, ShorTS IFF will continue its multifaceted journey in the world of shorts, offering up new segments for technical and audience juries, confirming the focus on virtual narrative, looking more and more closely at the varied young audience and the offer with specific sections for the very young from 6 to 15 years of age and highlighting the merits of some key players, not only Italian, of feature films with the consolidated Ad Personam Prizes: Cinema del Presente, Interprete del Presente, Prospettiva.

The Festival will operate through 6 competition sections: the Maremetraggio section, which will offer a broad overview of the vitality of this cinematographic idiom with international works competing for the best short award (4,000.00 €) and for the audience award for the best short; the ShorTS Express section, which will present very short films from various countries competing for the audience award for the best short film (1,000.00 €); the Italia in ShorTS section with its Made in Italy shorts competing for the audience award for the best short film (2,000.00 €) and for the AMC Award for best editing; the Eco-ShorTS section with international works with an environmental theme, which will compete for the audience award for the best short with an environmental theme (1,000.00 €); the Shorter Kids’n’Teens section, a sort of “festival within the festival” with its shorts aiming to introduce the languages and techniques of short films to viewers aged between 6 and 15, to be judged by the Kids jury (Shorter Kids Prize for the best short) and the Teens jury (Shorter Teens Prize for the best short); and the ShorTS Virtual Reality section dedicated to VR shorts competing for the audience award for the best short film in virtual reality (1,000.00 €) and the prize for the best 6DoF experience (1,000.00 €).
