PRIMAVERA

An old man spends his days between the intensive care ward of a hospital where his wife lies in a coma and the loneliness of this house, where the memories of the past are fading day by day. The meeting with a young mother assisting her teenagers on, though only made of glances and small gestures between two people sharing a pain that does not need to be spelled out, will unexpectedly pull him out of his grey, frozen isolation.

The film portrays the research for a space defining our freedom. The main charactger, Akiko, is apparently a young Japanese tourist who decides to build up new memories for her inner world. She collects objects to create an artificial catalogue of what she finds indispensable. She gradually isolates from the rest of society and decides to lock herself up forever in her new imaginary, artificial reality, using her Tokio answering machine as the black box of ther conscience. At the end she will be free, but totally alone. The price of becoming aware that sometimes life is a problem of measures is total, self-driven, endless exclusion.
