Terapia di gruppo

All’interno di un manicomio ha inizio la terapia di gruppo di alcuni pazienti. Sono seduti in cerchio, ma una delle sedie è vuota. La psichiatra domanda il motivo dell’assenza del paziente, dando il via agli sfoghi ed al delirio dei pazienti, ciascuno affetto da una sindrome diversa: un maniaco sessuale, una cantante lirica immaginaria, una ragazza traumatizzata dalle violenze sessuali del padre, un camionista convinto di essere stato rapito dagli alieni, un personaggio logorroico esperto di marmitte ed altri ancora. La psichiatra, dolce e comprensiva, interagisce con loro attraverso una parodia del linguaggio tipico degli analisti: ”Disintegra il tuo super-Io, per ritrovare l’Io….e liberare l’Ego!”. La situazione però gli sfugge di mano e i pazienti esplodono in un delirio generale, amplificando le loro follie!
Improvvisamente fa ingresso una seconda dottoressa. La nostra psichiatra la rimprovera per il ritardo con cui è intervenuta al cambio di turno. La seconda dottoressa si scusa, poi le chiede: “Come mai indossi il camice bianco?” In risposta riceve un delirante “Sto bene o no???”
In effetti non si tratta di una vera psichiatra, bensì di una malata di mente che, in attesa della dottoressa, ha ingannato il tempo prendendo il suo posto…

They have introduced group therapy in a mental hospital. The patients are sitting in a circle, but one of the chairs is empty. The psychiatrist asks the reason for the patient’s absence, giving rise to the outbursts and delirium of the patients, each suffering from a different syndrome: a sexual maniac, an imaginary opera singer, a girl traumatised by her father’s sexual violence, a lorry driver convinced that he has been abducted by aliens, a long-winded muffler expert and others. The psychiatrist, sweet and sympathetic, interacts with them through a parody of the typical language of analysts: “Disintegrate your super-Ego, to find your Ego and free the Ego! But the situation gets out of hand and the patients explode in a general delirium, amplifying their madness! Suddenly a second doctor comes in. Our psychiatrist reprimands her for the delay in intervening at the shift change. The second doctor apologises, then asks her: “Why are you wearing a white coat?” In reply she receives a delirious “Am I all right or not???”. In fact, it is not a real psychiatrist, but a mentally ill woman who, while waiting for the doctor, has cheated time by taking her place…
