Esterno/Giorno, tours of the sets of films and TV series shot in Friuli Venezia Giulia, returns to ShorTS International Film Festival with a truly unmissable edition. On the occasion of the festival and in conjunction with the photography exhibition Lo sguardo invisibile – Fotografie di scena dei film di Gabriele Salvatores girati in Friuli Venezia Giulia produced by the Casa del Cinema and curated by Tiziana Ciancetta, Esterno/Giorno proposes the itinerary Set fantascientifici, a unique opportunity to visit a location normally closed to the public where unforgettable scenes, rich in special effects, were shot, in which the location itself becomes the star. Elisa Grando will lead a tour inside the Gasometro del Broletto, an industrial building dating back to 1901, the set of numerous films and TV series and, in particular, of Gabriele Salvatores’ Il ragazzo invisibile.

The monumental building, topped by a dome, served as a gas depot. When no longer in use it became a particularly popular location for films on account of its evocative interior and exterior architecture reminiscent of a gigantic baptistery with stained glass windows and pilaster strips.

The tour includes:

– visit of the photography exhibition Lo sguardo invisibile – Fotografie di scena dei film di Gabriele Salvatores girati in Friuli Venezia Giulia inside the palazzo headquarters of the Casa del Cinema
– vision of some clips of the film Il ragazzo invisibile 2, shot inside the Gasometro
– visit of the Gasometro

The setting-up, in 2009, of the Casa del Cinema di Trieste and the work successfully carried out by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission for over twenty years prompted those in the industry who met at the Casa del Cinema to visualise and give shape to a product that sums up all the passion and propensity that Trieste and the regional authority have for the seventh art. Thus the project Esterno/Giorno was born, an original themed tour formula led by a film critic accompanied by an actor or a professional working on the set of the film on which the tour is based. The website of the Casa del Cinema di Trieste association describes the guided tours currently available, some of which are special editions, special tours that are not repeated continuously but which represent unique opportunities through the sets they explore.
