Premio Prospettiva Goes to Massimiliano Caiazzo

The ShorTS International Film Festival, a historic film event in Trieste organised by the Associazione Maremetraggio, now in its 24th year and scheduled to take place from 1 to 8 July 2023, has announced the Premio Prospettiva 2023. The prestigious award will be presented to Massimiliano Caiazzo, who on the evening of Sunday 2 July will not only receive the prize but also be lead player in a meeting open to the public.

Born in Vico Equense (Na) in 1996, Massimiliano Caiazzo began studying acting at the age of eighteen at the Méliès film school directed by Gianfelice Imparato, before continuing his studies in Rome.
In 2021, on the occasion of the 76th Venice Film Festival, he received the Kineo Young Revelations Award.
In 2020, he played the role of Carmine Di Salvo in the Rai series Mare Fuori, in the course of which his impact, stature and popularity knew no bounds and for which in 2021 he received the Meno di Trenta Best Actor in a TV Series Award. The series, now in its third season and increasingly acclaimed by ratings and critics, was recently awarded a specific prestigious Nastro d’Argento.
In 2022 he played the role of the impulsive seducer and sensitive shirtmaker Riccardo, one of the three unsuspecting brothers with the same mother in Filumena Marturano, the RAI TV film directed by Francesco Amato and starring Vanessa Scalera and Massimiliano Gallo. While in the drama and educational fresco Piano piano by Nicola Prosatore – presented last year at the Locarno Festival in Piazza Grande and in Rome in Alice nelle città – he is a multi-faceted suburban boy in search of an identity in the festive and complex Naples of the fateful year 1987.
He is currently working on the set of Mare Fuori 4 and has recently finished filming the Disney series Uonderbois by Andrea De Sica and Giorgio Romano, in which he is a sort of Robin Hood spanning the world of children and that of adults.

Since its inception, the Premio Prospettiva has represented an actual stake on the future of the young talents picked out each year by the Trieste event: through this award, ShorTS IFF will once again in 2023 turn the spotlight on a promising young talent in Italian cinema. A stake which, over time, has been confirmed by the careers of the various recipients of this award, among whom the Festival numbers Alba Rohrwacher, Luca Marinelli, Michele Riondino, Matilda De Angelis, Daphne Scoccia, Sharon Caroccia, Jacopo Olmo Antinori, Francesco Di Napoli, Giulio Pranno, Luka Zunic and Aurora Giovinazzo.
