And after exorcising the violet colour with a poster in 2010, to exorcise the number “13”, that in the superstitious world of cinema frightens a little, Maremetraggio enlarges its action with a new competition for young film makers, amateurs and professionals.

Registration is now open for the two sections of the competition, that also in 2012 will allow the festival to propose to its public, as always, a selection of the best European shorts and the most interesting Italian debut works recently released in cinemas.

Maremetraggio section, reserved to all short films that won one or more awards in one or more European Festivals during the 2011 and Ippocampo section, for Italian debut works.

From today, and till the 29th of February, registrations are open for the 13th edition of the Festival.

But the novelty of 2012 is a new competition, in collaboration with the boat race Barcolana, reserved to all shorts concerning sports that use the clean energy of wind as motion power. SopraSottoVento, this is the name of the competition, is open to shorts that last 15 minutes at the most and that are shot with every kind of technology, included videophones. For this competition there are two categories: amateurs and professionals.
