Sinossi / Synopsis

Io sono il prodotto della lotta iraniana tra laicità e ideologia islamica. La relazione dei miei genitori è durata molto: dall’era dello Scià fino alla Rivoluzione Islamica passando attraverso le difficoltà della guerra Iran-Iraq, fino ai giorni nostri: tutto nella nostra casa di Teheran. Durante l’infanzia, sono stata costantemente costretta a scegliere tra i miei genitori.

I am the product of Iran’s struggle between secularism and the Islamic ideology. My parents’ relationship endured a lot: from the Shah era to the Islamic Revolution and the hardships during the Iran-Iraq War, up to the present day – all in our home in Tehran. In my childhood, I was constantly forced to choose between my parents.

Firouzeh Khosrovani

Nata a Teheran, Firouzeh Khosrovani si è trasferita in Italia per perseguire gli studi d’arte all’Accademia di Brera. Nel 2002 è tornata in Iran, dove ha conseguito un master in giornalismo. Il suo film d’esordio, Life Train, è un documentario sulla “terapia del gioco” organizzata per i bambini traumatizzati dal terremoto di Bam. Nel 2007 ha diretto Rough Cut, film sui manichini di plastica mutilati nelle vetrine dei negozi di Teheran. Il suo ultimo lavoro, Fest of Duty, segue due ragazze adolescenti nel passaggio all’età adulta.

Born in Tehran, Firouzeh Khosrovani settled in Italy to pursue her artistic studies at the Accademia di Brera. In 2002 she returned to Iran and acquired her Master’s degree in Journalism. Her debut film, Life Train, is a documentary on the “play therapy” provided for the traumatized children of the earthquake in Bam. In 2007 she directed Rough Cut, a film about mutilated plastic mannequins in the shop windows of Tehran. Her last work, Fest of Duty, follows two adolescent girls as they transition into adulthood.
