BIOGRAPHY

Born in Naples on June 9, 1968. Writer, director and actress, she travels between Rome and York. She has starred in several Italian and French TV serials among which “Vento di mare”, “La Cavaliere”, “La mondaine” “Polly West est de retour” and “L’infiltrato”. Her films include “I pavoni”, “Cena alle nove” and “I tarassachi”. As a theater actress she played the role of the tram driver in “Zeno” and “La cura del fumo” with Giulio Borsetti. Her first novel, “Scosse”, was awarded the prize of the Club Letterario Italiano and received a mention of honor at the Firenze Prize and Prévert Prize. She was a finalist of the Calvino Prize. She has shot two film shorts as a director and actress.
“Mariti in affitto” is her first full-length film.

SYNOPSIS

Hoping to make his name as a sculptor, Vincenzo leaves his home on the southern Italian island of Procida together with his wife Maria and their two children, and moves to New York. Left without a cent, the family’s only source of income are the hand-crafted sandals made by Maria. The woman decides to move to New York with the rest of the family. Here she discovers that Vincenzo has officially married another woman, Charlene, already a mother and once again pregnant. The two women form an alliance, but they wind up in the clutches of Paul, the director of a TV sales channel who tries to rob Maria’s idea. Everyone fights to keep Paul from getting away with the theft, and they eventually win. In order to win back the affection of his family, Vincenzo gives upon his dreams of artistic success and accepts a job at one of the many American branches of the firm “Husbands for Hire”.
