BIOGRAPHY

David Ballerini was born in 1973. He has shot many film shorts, art documentaries, institutional films, and commercials. He has written the first Italian essay on steadicam (“Steadicam: una rivoluzione nel modo di fare cinema”). He is currently writing a book on Pasolini's mythological movies. His screenplay for “Il silenzio dell’allodola” won an award of the Italian Premiership and the Interesse Culturale Nazionale – National Cultural Interest. This film marks his debut in full-length films.

SYNOPSIS

Bobby Sands was an Irish boy from the Catholic area of Belfast and like many Irish republican youths he was an IRA supporter. Like many of them, Bobby was arrested and forced under torture to confess a crime he never committed. But Bobby Sands' story is also the story of a modern martyr who showed that a man, deprived of his freedom, can still make his choices and be a man even in the darkest and most extreme conditions. From his arrest, through his terrible ordeal in prison, to his torture and hunger strike, this film tells of the indomitable fight that Bobby Sands led in favor of human rights, freedom and human dignity making him famous all over the world.
