Two groups of holidaymakers: one is Sandro Molino’s family, a progressive, intellectual, meditative and snobbish journalist; the others are the Mazzalupis, a Roman family of boisterous shopkeepers and TV addicts. Unfortunately, they happen to live opposite each other on Ventotene island and have somehow to survive each others’ presence. Their mutual dislike and disdained contempt are immediately apparent. However, their lifestyles are not so different below the surface: all of them are deeply unhappy, which will be the basis for their reconciliation.
