The Ariston Cinema will host Nuove Impronte, a competition dedicated to feature films made by up-and-coming filmmakers, and Shorter Kids’n’Teens, a competition of short films for children and teenagers voted for by them. Online bookings on this website are recommended.

ShorTS Pitching Training (closed event) / 24 H ShorTS Comics Marathon / ShorTS Virtual Reality
The Casa del Cinema will host the 24 hour ShorTS Comics Marathon, this year divided into two 12-hour days, and finally ShorTS Virtual Reality, a section entirely dedicated to the world of short films in VR. Bookings on this website are compulsory.
MYMOVIES.IT
The largest online resource for cinema in Italy, with over 500,000 daily users and thousands of film profiles, reviews, readers’ comments and cinemas! All the short films and feature films that are part of the festival will be available on this portal free of charge. To see them, you can register for the festival and book a place in the virtual theatre at preset times.

The central Piazza Verdi, right next to Piazza Unità, is framed by the beautiful exterior of the homonymous Teatro Giuseppe Lirico and Palazzo Tergesteo. This will be the prestigious venue where the award-winning shorts from all around the world will compete.

Nuove Impronte / Shorter Kids’n’teens
A versatile stage for the many plays, films, concerts and cultural events that bring the city of Trieste to life, the Miela Theater will welcome Nuove Impronte, a competition dedicated to Italian feature-length films by emerging authors, and Shorter kids’n’teens, the short film competition for children and teenagers voted by themselves.

Virtual Room / Comics / Meetings + Panels
The Piazza della Borsa city lounge will be the headquarters of the Shorts Hub, where the Festival’s many initiatives will come to life: We have the Virtual Room, which will allow you to immerse yourself in short films thanks to VR technology. We also have the 24 Hours Comics Marathon, where aspiring cartoonists of all ages will compete by creating a comic in 24 hours.

Shorts Pitching Training
The Media Library, managed by the Cappella Underground Association, will host Shorts pitching training, a workshop organized in collaboration with NISI MASA – European Network for Young Cinema. Through this, participants will be able to practice preparing and presenting an effective and persuasive pitch for their work, with the support of big names in the international film industry scene.
Giuseppe Verdi Opera House

In the opera house of the city of Trieste, the first to be dedicated to the great composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1901, we will have our Virtual Reality experience: an exhibition entirely dedicated to the world of short films in VR.

Festival Press Conference
The elegant eclectic building overlooking the Grand Canal of Trieste, home of the “Carlo Schmidl” Civic Theater Museum, will host the Festival Press Conferences.
From Trieste to the World Wide Web
Given the special circumstances of the coronavirus crisis, this year our Festival is to migrate from its usual Trieste locations to the World Wide Web.
More specifically we will be on:
MYMOVIES.IT: the largest online Italian film resource, with over 500 thousand users a day and thousands of film entries, reviews, readers’ comments and cinemas. All the shorts and other films from the Festival will be available, free of charge, on this portal. To see them, you can obtain accreditation for the Festival (link to be made available soon) and reserve a place in the virtual cinema at scheduled times.
FACEBOOK: we will upload on this popular social network exclusive content linked to the makers of the shorts and other films, analyses, interviews and all useful info for following the Festival.
INSTAGRAM: exclusive live content, your photos and the most representative images of this Festival in its 21st year.
This year therefore you will be able to follow the entire Festival comfortably from your sofa, linking up with us via computer, smartphone, tablet. We know that a cinema screen is a crucial and unique component, but we hope in any case that we can enchant and entertain you with exciting new films, offering you an opportunity for reflection and discussion and continuing our support for up-and-coming talents in Italian and international cinema.
