Sinossi / Synopsis
In un villaggio sudanese di coltivatori di cotone, la quindicenne Nafisa ha una cotta per Babiker, ma i suoi genitori hanno già combinato il suo matrimonio con Nadir, un giovane uomo d’affari sudanese che vive all’estero. Al-Sit, la nonna di Nafisa, potente matriarca del villaggio, ha i suoi piani per il futuro della nipote. Ma Nafisa può fare le sue scelte?
In a cotton-farming village in Sudan, 15-year-old Nafisa has a crush on Babiker, but her parents have arranged her marriage to Nadir, a young Sudanese businessman living abroad. Nafisa’s grandmother Al-Sit, the powerful village matriarch, has her own plans for Nafisa’s future. But can Nafisa choose for herself?

Suzannah Mirghani è autrice, ricercatrice e regista indipendente, e focalizza la sua attenzione su storie provenienti dal mondo arabo. Cresciuta con background sudanesi e russi, è molto interessata alle storie che esplorano la complessità dell’identità. Suzannah è autrice, regista e produttrice di numerosi cortometraggi, tra cui Al-Sit, Caravan e Hind’s Dream.
Suzannah Mirghani is a writer, researcher, and independent filmmaker, highlighting stories from the Arab world. Having been raised with both Sudanese and Russian backgrounds, she is most interested in stories that explore the complexity of identity. Suzannah is the writer, director, and producer of several short films, including Al-Sit, Caravan and Hind’s Dream.
