Twins, they were born in Turin in 1978. Massimiliano graduated in History of Art Criticism, while Gianluca graduated in Film History at DAMS in Turin. Since 1999 they have been making short films and documentaries. Some have participated in many Film Festivals. Gialuca has attended a workshop of the Scuola Holden in Turin, with Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, while Massimiliano is attending a Masters’ Course in Contemporany Art at Turin University and Rivoli Castle.

Golden Scales for Best Short Film

Daniel Greaves was born on the 1st October 1959, in Woburn Buckinghamshire, England. From 1977 until 1980 he studied animation at Western Surrey College of Art. After graduating Daniel worked as a freelance animator at many London studios before founding Tandem Films with his business partner Nigel Pay in 1986. Daniel is Animation Director at Tandem Films. He is busy producing numerous commercials, including rthe recent Expedia and Chewits campaigns, as well as broadcast material and his own short film projects. And he still finds the time to go out for lunch! Little Things is Daniel’s seventh film.

Little Things is seven stories in one, as several seemingly unconnected characters feature in a blend of observational and surreal scenarios. Largely without dialogue, the scenarios involve sustained character-led comedy as each individual character is seen to face everyday situations that develop as only animation can. Does the dramatic event in their lives bring the characters together, or do the little things in life carry on as before?

Has worked as director’s assistant for the film “Faubourg Saint-Martin” (1986) by Jean-Claude Guiguet, and “Après après-demain” (1990) by Gérard Frot-Coutaz. He has been making short films since 1992 and in 1998 he directed his first full-length film, “Plus qu’hier, moins que demain”, which won the Cyrill Collard prize. He is now working on a new full-length film.

Charles Barker’s first degree was in fine art painting at Central St Martins. On leaving college, Charles continued working as an artist creating both paintings and prints. Having always had an interest in film he also started to make experimental films and finding this a more rewarding medium, his subsequent work has been predominantly film based. In 2000 Charles decided to go back to college to study an MA in Film direction. While a student at the NFS he was the winner of the 2002 Kodak competition. Since graduating in 2002, Charles has directed commercials and is represented by Arden Sutherland Dodd. He has also completed a number of shorts, shown at festivals around the world, and has just finished writing his first feature script: ‘The half brother’.

Breaking up is never easy… Jack wants to put an end to things with Sarah. Or does he? When he tries to finish his relationship, his life spins out of control (literally.) A short, quirky comedy that plays with the kinetics of cinema.

Marco Cucurnia was born in Genoa in 1975. His relationship with the cinema has focused on Italian-style comedy and on Mario Monicelli.
Driven by this passion, he leaves his hometown at the age of 18 and he heads for Tuscany where he meets Mario Monicelli. In Rome he works for more than 10 years with the great director.
In 1996 his first works as director and scriptwriter. His first short was “Alta Velocità”. It won the Nanni Loy Prize. Then come other works such as “La città violata” that deals with the 2001 G8 Summit in Genoa.
In 2001 his dream comes true: telling the story of Mario Monicelli in the documentary “Mario Monicelli, l’artigiano di Viareggio” produced by Directory Media, presented at the 2002 Lugarno Festival and broadcast by RAI UNO. This marks the beginning of his cooperation with RAI, where he works in the promotionals dept.
In 2003 he receives two prizes from the Italian Ministry of Culture and Performing Arts: one for the film short “Làlibi”, the other for the movie “SoloMetro”.
“Làlibi” also receives other awards: first prize at the 2004 Genoa Film Festival, Kodak Prize and the Cinema School Prize at Cinecorto 2004 in Rome. It also participates in the 2004 Granada International Festival.
In 2004 he tells of his city in the documentary “Genova, amore mio” with Paolo Villaggio, produced by Directory Media and broadcast on RAI TRE.

After a road accident, Eugenio goes into coma. After ten days he wakes up in a hospital room. First he sees a pretty nurse, Lucia, then the doctors. They want to know if he remembers what happened. In that moment Eugenio sees the possibility of gaining freedom: pretending to remember anything.
He will finally be able to get rid of his old life, parents, girlfriend, job, to start all over again. At the beginning the trick seems to work, but, as time goes by, it backfires on him. Eugenio cannot escape anymore. He must absolutely return to reality…
