La casa degli orrori del Luna Park di Roma presenta una particolarità: i mostri non sono manichini ma attori in carne ed ossa. Uno di loro riceve una visita imprevista della sua ragazza che gli propone di sposarsi.

Note del regista:
Nella vita ci capita di vivere situazioni difficili in silenzio o in un atteggiamento socialmente composto. Ma dentro di noi qualcosa di mostruoso urla. Il nostro protagonista è un mostra; e può urlare.

Giacomno Ciarrapico: è nato Roma nel 1971. Nel 1992 si diploma presso il Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Dal 1996 scrive e dirige numerose opere per il teatro, tra cui Piccole Anime che nel 1998 ha trasposto per il cinema.

The Monster’s House at the Amusement Park in Rome has one peculiar characteristic: the monsters are real human beings. One of them, during his shift gets a visit from his girlfriend, who asks him to marry her.

Director’s notes
In life we approach many situation quietly and with very good manners. But inside us something monstrous is screaming. Our protagonist is a “monster” and he can scream.

Giacomo Ciarrapico: was born in Rome in 1971. Graduate in 1992 at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. From 1996 he wrote and directed some works for the theatre, such as Piccole Anime that in 1998 he has made into a film.

“Il tuffo è come la poesia, ogni movimento fluisce in quello successivo”. The Diver è un inno ai tuffi e al movimento estetico. E’ una sorta di sognante collage di movimento, musica e narrazione che onorano il più bello sport che c’è. Helge Wasenius (nato nel 1927), il Grande Vecchio dei tuffatori, è il personaggio principale del film, un pittoresco scavezzacollo dello sport.
Parallela alla sua carriera professionale, ha perseguito un’altra carriera come il tuffatore acrobata preferito dai bambini. La sua specialità era quando con sangue freddo penzolava a testa in giù dall’alto di una piattaforma, stando appeso con i piedi. Nel film decide di compiere quest’acrobazia un’ultima volta prima di fare il suo tuffo nell’ignoto, anche se tutta l’acqua della piscina è stata prosciugata! Il film ha luogo all’Helsinki Swimming Stadium, scena dei giochi olimpici estivi di Helsinki del 1952.

PV Lehtinen: è nato nel 1969 a Helsinki. Ha studiato regia alla University of Industrial Art and Design di Helsinki. Oltre alla regia e alla sceneggiatura lavora come montatore nei cortometraggi e nelle serie televisive.

“Diving is like poetry, each movement flowing into the next”. The Diver is a hymn to diving and the aesthetics of movement. It is a dreamlike collage of movement, music and narration honouring the most beautiful sport there is. Helge Wasenius (b. 1927), The Grand Old Man of divers, is the principal character in the film, a colourful daredevil of the sport. Alongside his more professional career, he pursued another career as a children’s favourite stunt diver. His speciality was when he cold bloodedly dangled head downwards high on a diving platform, hanging by his feet. In the film he decides to perform this stunt one last time before his final plunge into the unknown, even if all the water has been drained from the pool! The film takes place at Helsinki Swimming Stadium, scene of the 1952 Helsinki Summer Olympics.

PV Lehtinen: born in 1969 in Helsinki. He ha s been studying at the University of Industrial Art and Design of Helsinki. Besides directing and screen writing he has been working as a film editor in many short films and TV-fictions.

E’ possibile svegliarsi una mattina, magari dopo un bel sonno tranquillo, e farsi assalire da paure e eventi che, nel giro di pochi minuti, ti fanno esplodere cumuli d’angosce? E’ quello che accade a Clara che una mattina al suo risveglio non trova più il suo uomo.

Elena La Ferla: è laureata in Architettura presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma e ha frequentato il Corso di Formazione per Sceneggiatori a cura di Rai Cinema Fiction, Roma. Collabora con la rivista d’architettura Costruire per la rubrica culturale. Nel 1999 ha fondato la società di produzione indipendente Performa con la quale si autoproduce.

Elena La Ferla: graduated in Architetture at the University La Sapienza di Roma and also she has frequented the Corso di Formazione per Sceneggiatori curate d by Rai Cinema Fiction, Roma.
She also works with the architecture magazine Costruire. In 1999 she founded the indipendent production society of Performa con la quale si autoproduce.
