Vale no longer has a mother. Fourteen years old, with desires, doubts and questions, her life revolves around her father Carlo, a young taxi driver with a love of photography. Their relationship is strong and happy, but so exclusive that it will not allow anyone else to enter. Now this harmony is under threat, Carlo is forced to make choices and for Vale the instinct to rebel clashes day after day with the fear of being left alone. Out of the blue, in Lisbon, a woman seems ready to begin a life together, the possibility of having a child, but when things finally seem to be settling down, she disappears. One day Carlo receives a letter from Portugal…

 

VITTORIO MORONI

Vittorio Moroni, after obtaining his classical Diploma, studied Philosophy, specializing in Aesthetics. He then enrolled at the Public Film school of Milan, where he studied film and TV language. He took his direction Diploma in 1995. In 1999 he enrolled for an MA in direction at Universal Pictures (L.A., California).

A universal story of dignity and social redemption, where events tragically represent the inevitable nature of destiny which will change Desiderio’s life and that of all her friends…

 

MASSIMO ANDREI

Author and director. He studies and works mainly for the theatre, where he is directed, among others, by G. Corbelli, A. Calende, P. Sepe, C. Giuffrè. In 1994 he met the New Neapolitan Drama. He has worked for Vincenzo Salemme’s theatre company, and Salemme has directed him as an actor in his films “Amore a prima vista” and “Volesse il cielo!”. He has written many plays and cabaret shows for the theatre. He has written, directed, acted for RAI in many a radio play, for the TV he has acted in many fiction series. He has co-written many of the “Chiambretti c’é” TV shows. He also writes lyrics for Peppe Barra and lyrics for the music of Nicola Piovani, Lino Cannavacciuolo and Germano Mazzocchetti. “Mater Natura” is his first feature film.

After his umpteenth hospital admission after being stabbed by a serial killer, Sandrone decides to try a safer line of work – working as an escort for an old, long-forgotten American actor, in Italy to make a guest appearance at a convention. But as he is reluctantly working his new job, Sandrone finds himself helping a girl whose boyfriend has been killed. Too much for one man. Luckily there are two of them, him and his Associate…

 

CARLO A. SIGON

Carlo A. Sigon was born in Milan on November the 23rd, 1964. At the end of the 80’s he directed the short “Coazione a ripetere”. Since 1993 he has been working in advertisement, at first for Filmmaster productions, then for RBA, where he directs his first videos and commercials. With his production company, Blu Sky, he directs a number of commercials in Kenya, for Cadbury’s, Visa Barkley’s, Kenya Airways and Safari Lager. In Italy, he directs commercials for Gatorade, Merit, the Treccani Encyclopedia, Max magazine, the national daily La Repubblica, Telecom and Toyota. More recently, he has directed two important campaigns for the American market. While working alternatively in advertising and films, he has also directed four more short films presented at a number of festivals. In 1998 he met Elio e le storie tese and directed many of their videos. He has also directed four TV films for RAI2 channel. His feature debut comes with the recent “La cura del gorilla”, based on Sandrone Dazieri’s novel.

ALBERTO BASSETTI

Born in Rome in 1955, where he graduated in Letters, he makes his cinema debut with this film. Up to now he has worked in theatre as playwright and director. Characterised by strong social themes, his works have won many awards and have been brought to the stage by major theatre directors in Italy and abroad. With “La Tana” he won the Italian Drama Institute contest award (Premio Concorso Idi) in 1990 and again in 1995 with “La gabbia”. In the same year, Giorgio Albertazzi directed his work “Il girifalco dell’harem” at the Taormina Festival. In 1995 he received the Giuseppe Fava Award for “Sopra e sotto il ponte”. In 2003 “Il Ventre” with Isabel Russinova made its debut at the Taormina Festival, for which he also wrote the monologue “Ferro e Cuore” which continues its tour in 2006. He is currently co-directing the Festival Quartieri of the Arts and the “boccascena” series of plays for publishing house Edizioni Interculturali.

Then, suddenly, the news: the death of Paolo ‘e Fierro, local mafioso, well-known for his robberies (who has faked his death to make off with the money). Nothing strange so far. But one night at the cemetery, under a full moon, the three find themselves watching a macabre and mysterious scene: the mafia Boss, menacing and full of scars, gets two madmen to dig up the grave of Paolo ‘e Fierro and discovers what he feared… the peace in the sleepy little town is about to be shattered…

 

IVAN POLIDORO

Ivan Polidoro was born in Naples on April the 28th, 1964. He has taken his diploma at the Drama Art Academy Silvio D’Amico as a actor. He has degree at the II University of Rome. He has worked in the theatre as an actor with Ronconi, Tiezzi, Missiroli, Coltorti, Pugliese e De Filippo, and in cinema with Bellocchio, Monicelli, Terracciano, Antonietta De Lillo and the Taviani brothers. He has made four short films “Immagini”, “La biblioteca”, “La rapina” e “La colpa”. “Rapina”, awarded the art.8 of the Italian Ministry of the Culture. From “Rapina” has been drawen the feature “Basta un niente…”.

His whole life will be marked by the need to repair his torn childhood and place his trust in the support of a father.

 

LORENZO HENDEL

Lorenzo Hendel was born in Florence in December 1950. At the end of the Seventies he moved to Perugia, where he worked at the regional headquarters of the RAI (the Italian broadcasting corporation) on a documentary project on the social realities of Italy, while continuing his study of television language and his continued work in video-theatre and theatre fiction. In 1988 he moved to Rome, continuing to work for the Italian television channel RAI 3 as a television director at all levels, while his work as a documentary filmmaker took him to all six continents (including the Antarctic). In 1996 he made the short film “Tramonto” in the collective work “Intolerance”, featured in short film festivals in Italy and abroad. “Quando i bambini giocano in cielo” is his first feature length film for cinema.
