Per oltre dieci anni abbiamo concentrato tutti i nostri sforzi economici, politici e militari a tentare di chiudere la frontiera mediterranea: c’è chi l’ha fatto con più cautela e chi con più cattiveria, ma lo scopo unico era comunque e sempre “ridurre il numero di sbarchi”, fermare e contenere. Un orizzonte che ha schiacciato le nostre capacità di ascoltare e capire i motivi e le scelte di chi viaggia. Come il peso dell’acqua, attraverso le storie di tre donne e lo sguardo di due grandi narratori civili, cerca di modificare questo orizzonte.

For over ten years, we have concentrated all of our economic, political and military forces in an attempt to close the Mediterranean border. Some have done it carefully and others more harshly, but the only objective has always been to simply “reduce the number of arrivals”, to close and to contain. A horizon that has severely reduced our capacity to listen to and understand the motives and choices of those who make the trip. By telling the story of three women and getting the insights of two great civilian narrators, Come il peso dell’acqua seeks to change this horizon.
