Eastern Greenland. The beginning of the twentieth century, the dawn of European colonisation. A young Inuit hunter says goodbye to his wife and newborn son and heads out to sea in his kayak. Shortly afterwards, he is assassinated in the fjords while hunting. Still a baby, the little Quipingi discovers his destiny of a child without a father, exposed to the cruelty of nature and its extremes, and the violence of an archaic humanity struggling to survive. His whole life will be marked by the need to repair his torn childhood and place his trust in the support of a father.

LORENZO HENDEL

Lorenzo Hendel was born in Florence in December 1950. At the end of the Seventies he moved to Perugia, where he worked at the regional headquarters of the RAI (the Italian broadcasting corporation) on a documentary project on the social realities of Italy, while continuing his study of television language and his continued work in video-theatre and theatre fiction. In 1988 he moved to Rome, continuing to work for the Italian television channel RAI 3 as a television director at all levels, while his work as a documentary filmmaker took him to all six continents (including the Antarctic). In 1996 he made the short film “Tramonto” in the collective work “Intolerance”, featured in short film festivals in Italy and abroad. “Quando i bambini giocano in cielo” is his first feature length film for cinema.
