Dal 2000 ha lavorato come primo assistente nel corto “L’avion en papier” di Kevin Dresse e “Instant disorder” di Arnaud Asseray. Nel 2002 ha diretto il suo primo cortometraggio “Le bout des doigts” con cui ha vinto diversi premi.Nicolas Birkenstock was born in Mertz on 1 August 1977.
