Rules 2017

      ORGANISATION

ShorTS International Film Festival is organised by Associazione Maremetraggio and is sponsored by Public and Private Entities.

  1. DATES & DURATION

ShorTS International Film Festival is held in Trieste, Italy, from the 1st to the 8th of July 2017 and will last for 8 days.

  1. SECTIONS

The Festival is divided into three sections:

          •  Maremetraggio

        •  Last Chance

        •  SweeTS4Kids

  1. MAREMETRAGGIO

This section is reserved for short films that have won one or more prizes in one or more international film festivals during 2016. All submitted works must not exceed 20 minutes in terms of length (titles included) and must have been produced after June, 2015.

The films are selected at the complete discretion of  the Artistic Direction of the Festival.

  1. LAST CHANCE

This section includes films that have not won any awards. Submitted films must not exceed 10 minutes (titles included) and must have been produced after January, 2016. All genres are eligible.

Ten selected films from this section will be included in the Maremetraggio Section of the Festival.

  1. SWEETS4KIDS

This section accepts every genre of short films dedicated to children from 8 to 13 years old. All submitted works must not exceed 15 minutes in terms of length (titles included) and must have been produced after January, 2016. The Audience Award will be judged by a jury of 101 children.

  1. MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATIONS

All interested in participation must complete an entry form which can be found on the Official Website of the Festival: (www.maremetraggio.com/entry-form) or can also use one of the following platforms:

Participants must submit their own film by the 29th of February 2017.

DVD’s of the films will also be accepted and they will be included in the Festival archive. There is a chance that the work will be used for non-profit purposes (screenings in schools, expert cinema clubs, et al.)

For any other kind of usage, The Organisation will be required to ask for permission.

  1. SELECTED FILMS

The authors of the selected films will be contacted by the Organisation and will be advised to send the materials requested at the moment of selection (photos, texts, dialogue lists…) .

The final (screening) copy of the selected shorts must be submitted by the 9th of June 2017.

Important note: the screening copy must be in PAL format. The copies sent in NTSC format will not be screened due to technical incompatibilities.

The shipping costs are paid by the Sender, and the Festival will cover the cost of returns.

  1. FILM SCREENING

The schedule and the programme of the screenings will be specified by the Artistic Direction of the Festival.

  1. PRIZES

The Artistic Direction will choose a Jury of experts that will award the following prizes:

–                Best Short Film Award (€ 5,000)

–                Best Italian Short Film Award

–                Best Italian Short Film Editing Award

–                People’s Choice Award for Best Short Film

–                Best Short Film for kids

The Artistic Direction of the Festival reserves the right to change the afore-mentioned awards. The jury reserves the right to carry out honorable mentions.

Please note that the € 5,000 prize is subject to taxation according to Italian law ( 25% – art. 30.2° comma DPR 600/73).

If the prize for the  “Best Short Film Award” (€ 5,000) is not collected by the winner within one year of communication with the festival it will no longer be payable.

  1. GENERAL RULES

Each author is liable for the content of his/her work.

The participants authorize the Festival to use their name and address for all purposes related to the event. The information on the Entry Form will be published in the Festival’s catalogue and on the Festival’s Website.

Participation in the Festival implies a complete understanding of the above regulations and compliance with their terms.

These regulations have been compiled in Italian and English. In the case of any problems or contradictions in the English translation, the Italian version is deemed authentic.
