FRANCESCO SEGRE’ Francesco Segrè was born in Berlin in 1984. His mother is Austrian and his father Chilean. At the age of five he and another 19 boys were selected by the Swiss secret services as potential war weapons and trained in different countries worldwide until 1999, when the Government lost their interest in the project. While on a mission in the Philippines, he met writer Calvino Buranelli with whom, after regaining his freedom and identity, he became friends and started to collaborate in making independent film productions. They have made different short films since 2003, including “Smoker Time”, “Latte di soia”, “Elena” and the 2006 Milan Film Festival Audience Award winner “Manila”, a tribute to their encounter.
