MA CHE CI FACCIO QUI!

Alessio is 18 and has a dream: to travel across Europe with his best friends. Summer is at the door and he has already planned a detailed itinerary. Unfortunately, and much to his surprise, he fails his school year. His parents take an irrevocable decision: he cannot go on holiday. Alessio finds the punishment unbearable and decides to leave anyway. He jumps on his moped, determined to join his friends at all costs. However, circumstances force him to stop on the coast near Rome longer than he planned and, despite himself, work in a bathing establishment run by a weird family, to say the least. His summer will be extremely challenging: he will run away, come back, meet odd fellow travellers, be seduced and, in turn, break some hearts. Very soon he will realize that travelling is not only a question of kilometres.

FRANCESCO AMATO
Francesco Amato was born in Turin on 11 September 1978. While still attending the senior high school in Bra, near Cuneo, he worked as a photographer. He then moved to Bologna to study arts, music and performing arts. In that period he shot “Quanto ti voglio” and “Vietato sostare sul portone”, his first short and documentary films respectively. In 2001 he shot “Figlio di penna”, a short film receiving numerous awards at different film festivals. In 2002 he was assistant director to Pupi Avati’s film “Cuori altrove” and shot his second documentary film, “Questa è la mia terra”, dealing with immigration in Bologna in the period when the Bossi-Fini bill was passed. In 2003 he entered the National Academy of Cinema in Rome and thus started a three-year film directing course. Together with other students he shot “Ma che ci faccio qui!”, his first feature film.
