BILLY McCANNON

Billy McCannon is a film director and screenwriter. Originally from Galway, he graduated from DIT Communications (Film & Broadcasting) in 1984 and became a film industry trainee in the departments of editing and camera until being admitted to the director’s section. He has achieved credits in screenwriting and directing in both documentary and drama. He won an Arts Council Film Script Award in 1990 and his first film “That’s all Right” had the distinction of opening the Cork film Festival. His work has won plaudits at International Festivals and has been given cinema release in Ireland as well being broadcast by RTE, BBC and C4. He has lectured at DIT Aungier St. GMIT and currently in NCAD’s Portlaoise Prison Art Course.
