24H SHORTS COMICS MARATHON

RULES

 01 The contest is open to all, without age limits.

02 The marathon will start at 17.00 on Monday 2 July and will end at 5.00 pm on Tuesday 3 July, without interruptions. In 24 hours, participants will have to produce a cartoon short film of a minimum of 12 inked and / or colored square vignettes.

03 Participation is free. To register you must send an email to info@maremetraggio.com with the subject “Registration 24H ShorTS Comics Marathon” with the following data:

  • Name and surname
  • Date of birth
  • Cellphone number
  • Email address
  • A photo of the participant
  • One or more drawings made by the participant.

The maximum number is 20 participants. In the event that the quota of possible participants is exceeded, a pre-selection based on the submitted works will take place.

05 Members must present themselves at 16.00 on Monday 2 July at the Shorts HUB located in Piazza della Borsa in Trieste. Before the start of the marathon will be revealed the theme of the story that will be illustrated. For participants who will present themselves as only designers will be given a screenplay to illustrate.

06 The members will find at their disposal the basic technical equipment consisting of A4 sheet, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers and markers. Participants will also be able to autonomously provide additional equipment that they consider necessary for the creation of the comic strip. Tablets and electronic devices are allowed, bearing in mind that continuous use of the current is not guaranteed for the entire duration of the marathon.

07 During the 24 hours the participants are free to use the weather as they see fit, use cell phones and eat. If they leave the marathon, they will have to deliver the tables to the desk and then resume them once they have returned.

08 The elaborate, to be considered finished and judged, must count a minimum of 12 up to a maximum of 16 inked or colored tables, each containing a square-sized vignette. The originals will be delivered as regards the analogs. Those wishing to draw in digital native on a tablet or computer will have to communicate it at the time of registration.

09 The works will be judged by a jury of experts in the field of comics and cinema composed of Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, Sio and Filippo Mazzarella. The final judgment is unquestionable. The dissemination of the participants’ works (web, exhibition) will be non-profit and freely granted by the participants by signing up for the contest. The originals will remain in the archives of the Maremetraggio Association and ai participants will be issued a high quality scan of their own work.

10 The cartoon considered winner will be published in a small volume and distributed free.
