Absence of Light

Si può misurare la luce, ma non l’oscurità. Consideriamo l’una come l’opposto dell’altra, eppure oscurità è assenza di luce. E un’assenza non è qualcosa di misurabile: semplicemente non esiste. La luce ci protegge dalla nostra ancestrale paura del buio. Ma ricorda: dove c’è luce, ci deve essere ombra. Nell’epoca tecnologica in cui viviamo, la dipendenza dall’energia è più forte che mai. È diventata un bene insostituibile. Quindi si pone una domanda: cosa resta da fare se il sole stacca la spina? La risposta sta nella percezione dello spettatore.

You can measure the light but you can’t measure the dark. In a duality we see one as the opposite of the other. Yet darkness is the absence of light. And an absence isn’t a measurable thing. It simply doesn’t exist. Light protects us from our fundamental fear of the dark. But remember, where there is light, there must be shadow. We live in a technological era where our dependence on energy is greater than ever before. It has become an essential commodity. A question immediately arises: what’s left to do if the sun pulls the plug? The answer lies in the viewer’s perception.
