Sinossi / Synopsis

Nelly è scappata dalla sua benestante famiglia. Mentre balla in uno strip club incontra Markos, un piccolo ma carismatico gangster, che la aiuta a fuggire dagli scagnozzi del suo patrigno e che diventa presto il suo protettore e amante. La porta a Broadway, un vecchio complesso di intrattenimento abbandonato di Atene, occupato da una piccola comunità di ballerini, vagabondi, ladri e da una scimmia tenuta prigioniera. Per un po’ va tutto bene, anche quando Broadway si trova ad ospitare un uomo misterioso, ferito e ricoperto di bende…

Nelly has escaped from her wealthy family. As she dances in a strip club, she meets Markos, a small yet charismatic gangster, who helps her run away from her stepfather’s henchmen. Markos soon becomes her protector and lover. He brings her into Broadway, Athens, an abandoned entertainment complex squatted by a small community of dancers, tramps, thieves and a captive monkey. For a while, everything goes well, even when Broadway hosts a mysterious man, injured and covered with bandages…

Christos Massalas

Christos Massalas è nato in Grecia nel 1986. Ha studiato Film Theory alla Kingston University di Londra e Regia alla London Film School. I suoi cortometraggi hanno ricevuto numerosi premi e sono stati selezionati in festival cinematografici internazionali tra cui Cannes, New Directors/New Films, Locarno, AFI Film Fest, Nouveau Cinema, Sarajevo, Salonicco e molti altri. Nel 2016 è stato selezionato come uno dei nuovi registi più promettenti al mondo al 69a edizione del Festival di Locarno.

Christos Massalas was born in Greece in 1986. He studied Film Theory at Kingston University, London and Filmmaking at the London Film School. His short films have received numerous prizes and have been selected at international film festivals including Cannes, New Directors/New Films, Locarno, AFI Film Fest, Nouveau Cinema, Sarajevo, Thessaloniki and more. In 2016 he was selected as one of the most promising new directors in the world at the 69th Locarno Film Festival.
